New Song: Midnight Cafe Scene

So I’ve been working on ideas for a new lo-fi song. Yesterday I went to a cafe near midnight, and I liked the way things sounded. I decided to record a few minutes of it… just people talking. Today I felt inspired to write a melody for it. My sister suggested I should add a bit of piano to my lo-fi songs to spice them up a bit, but I didn’t feel it fit in with the mood of this one in particular, maybe the next one.

Anyway, Download MCS here or listen to it through the flash player below…

New Song: I Knew It

So, strange events take place in a life time. Life changing events. This is not one of them, but I wanted to make a song that expresses how I feel about quite a few things that happen in life, making reference to those life changing events.

It’s really a very bad quality song, as I don’t have half the audio equipment I used to have, nonetheless I hope you enjoy it. Download I knew it right here, or listen to it with the flash player below.

New Song: Your Smell

This is my second attempt at Lo-Fi. This song is called “Your Smell”, it was recorded using a combination of techniques. First of all I recorded it on a Digital Voice Recorder, as with my previous song. Then I recorded directly onto the PC, using my Sony headphones as if it were a stereo mic. While recording it in Cool Edit Pro, I was also moving things around the room, banging on things and closing and opening the door to add extra stuffing to the song.

The interesting part came when the battery on the recording device ran out near the end, so it gave an interesting twist to the end of the song. Afterwards I increased the speed by 12 octaves using the music editing program, and then reduced it 12 octaves to distort the sound quality. Furthermore, I added a few filters to add a bit of vibrato to the guitar.

Then I recorded the rest of the tracks, like the drums, the vocals and the clapping.

You can download the track Right Here, or listen to it using the player below.

New Song: I Failed You

This is my first attempt at making a really sad lo-fi song, using the technique I described in my last Twitter entry:

“I First recorded on a hand recorder, then passed through headphones in mic jack on PC, increased speed 300% and then back down again”.

I hope you like it: I Failed You
