That’s why I also said “I concur with the fact that computing speed was not the same 12 years ago and it would have been impossible to do the amount of calculations we can do nowadays. However, robotics as a whole seems to have progressed very little since then.”

So that’s why I understand why AI has not advanced that much in all this time, because computing speed wasn’t as great, but there is no reason why robotics could have not advanced this much. We had the metal, we had the electronics, and we had ideas. It seems that we have been either lacking monetary support to fund such projects, people interested in it, or the knowledge of how things work to develop better robots.

I just find it strange. We have so much potential, we have built incredible things in the past 50 years, but the field of robotics still seems so far away from where it could be today.
