Review: eeepc 1002 HA

Just a few words about the eeepc 1002 HA Netbook.

Great for mobility. Fast startup. Acceptable performance (Fast for a couple of programs open, gets a bit slow when using the webcam, listening to music, working on documents and browsing the net at the same time). The keyboard is acceptable, but some important keys were changed to “function” keys, such as “home”, “end”, “Page up” and “Page down”.

It takes a bit of time to get used to the layout, but the key size is not an issue, it is quite comfortable. The texture and style of the netbook is great. It is easy to remove smudges. The battery does last 5 hours if you lower brightness, turn off bluetooth and run it on “power saving mode”. If you run it on full characteristics it lasts about 3 hours.

The multitouch mousepad is great, I really loved the gestures it uses. When I got onto my laptop the other day I found myself trying to use the same gestures I got used to on the netbook.

In general, I’d give the netbook a 9/10 score, based on the fact that the ATOM processors still aren’t excellent. Recording video from the webcam on windows movie maker for more than 3 minutes started to cause glitches in the recording, slowdowns, etc. Overall it is a great netbook for its primary use: Surfing the net.
