Review: Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico

A few words on the Sayulita Beach area in Nayarit, Mexico:

Great place to go for a short holliday. The beach is not too large, it does get quite crowded on Spring Break however. There are quite a few rocks in one section of the beach, but this does not affect the experience as there is still a large area for catching some waves.

Surf is a common activity in the area, nonetheless, I did not see very high waves in the 3 times I have been there.

There is excellent food in the region, including a delicious fruit that is only found around that region (Jaca). The restaurants are good, a few of them take a while in serving, however it is quite a nice experience.

As a negative point: There are quite a few stray dogs, and in one or two areas there is open sewage.

It is a more ‘natural’ experience than going to Puerto Vallarta for example, which may attract quite a few people. The beach is clean, there are good local hotels, and you can rent whole floors in a few places.

Overall I recommend it highly if you are looking for a beach that is not a tourist trap and not heavily overloaded with condos.
