Weekly Highlights (27/12/2009)

Yikes! I’ve hit my monthly limit on Flickr. So for this time I’ll only be uploading the photos onto the blog directly instead of via flickr.

On the 21st of December we had something similar to a snow storm through the night. It was fun for a while, and fortunately I have central heating so I didn’t suffer throughout the evening.

This is the result of the snow storm. The next day, 22nd of December, was a white day. It snowed a few more times, rather heavily. First time I’ve seen so much snow accumulate all together in quite a few years.

Boxing Day, 26th of December. I had a look around town, bought a few things including a 9 watt portable guitar amplifier and a set of speakers for my pc. On the way back the sun went down, and for a moment I caught a glimpse at something similar to what is portrayed in the previous picture.

Why similar? Well, a camera will never be able to catch the exact feeling around a piece of art in time, a fragment of personal glory, but it somewhat tries to do so by framing a piece of time in colour.

Weekly Highlights (20/12/2009)

Street + Snow at Night

On Friday, the 18th of December, it started snowing. It was the first time in years I had seen snow. It was just a bit, but it was enough to provide for a joyful experience. Just one day later I lived through a heavy snow storm, which started while I was doing some shopping at the local Sainsburys.

Snow Man

So, obviously afterwards we made a snowman. Rather twiggy, and stony, but still a snowman. I missed this kind of small things quite a lot, now I feel a tad more complete, and ready to continue with my daily living.

A short report on Spam and PC Safety in 2009

“If the economy could rebound as spam has done in (the) second quarter, we would all be much happier with our retirement accounts. Spam has surged since the prior quarter, increasing nearly 80 percent. Last year’s spam fell drastically from previous quarters, in large part due to the shutdown of the McColo ISP,” the report said.

The report also warned of emerging threats of auto-run malware to increased botnets. Password-pilfering trojans are proliferating and expected to double this year from the prior year.

Researchers also warned of increasing malicious attacks on social-networking sites like Twitter, where URLs often are condensed. “The caution that users usually apply when they view search results and news links disappears behind the obfuscating address,” the report notes.
