I took a trip to Belgium this past weekend. I had a great time, eating, walking, seeing, and… photographing of course. I’ll tell you a bit of my trip through the following pictures:

That is from the day before leaving to Belgium. I took that picture at the bus stop near my living quarters.

I took a bus from there to the city centre, then a train to Prestwick airport. This photo is from the entrance to the airport. Ryanair (as you may be able to distinguish) is the main one that flies out from this airport.

So I arrived in Charleroi, got lost looking for the train, finding it finally only to get down two stops early in the town of Braine l’Alleud. I was on my way to Brussels, but armed with only “Merci” and “s’il vous plaît” I wasn’t really good at getting across. This photo was taken outside the railway station at that town.

I finally made it to Brussels at last only to catch another train to Gent, north of Belgium. I didn’t go as far as Oostende though.

So I finally arrived at Gent. It is a marvellous city, really beautiful (except for the city centre which is under heavy maintenance). However, the architecture, the colours, the rivers, the bridges, the shops, the people, everything was really magnificent.

I stayed there for a couple of nights before making my way back to Brussels. I took that photo on the way back. I love the fields in Belgium.

So I got back by plane (British Airways this time) to Heathrow where I was to catch a bus to Gatwick to take the following one. This was the first thing I encountered upon departing from the plane.

So I caught the bus, travelled about an hour, got to Gatwick, waited a few hours, and finally caught the last plane back to Glasgow. Not without taking this picture of the sun setting just before entering the plane.
Marvellous trip, I’d do it again any time, and I’d highly recommend visiting Gent (Ghent)!
