The Swig

The Swig

Short Story By J. Warner. First revision by LeMiffe.

Retrograde amnesia is a form of amnesia where someone will be unable to recall events that occurred before the onset of amnesia. It is caused by trauma that results in brain injury. Critical details of the physical changes in the brain that cause retrograde amnesia are still unknown. Retrograde amnesia is often temporally graded, meaning that remote memories are more easily accessible than events occurring just prior to the trauma. Events nearest in time to the accident that caused memory loss may never be recovered.

In Total Retrograde Amnesia, a person may not recall who he or she is, or their relatives, or childhood, among other things. Episodes may last up to one or two weeks.

Adam, our main character, has suffered an accident while unboarding from a bus in the center of downtown L.A.

He suffers a bout of amnesia, in which he wanders around town in a state of semi-consciousness.

When you’re back in your old neighborhood
The cigarettes taste so good
But you’re so misunderstood
You’re so misunderstood

There’s something there that you can’t find
Honest when you’re tellin’ a lie
You hurt her but you don’t know why
You love her but you don’t know why
Short on long term goals
There’s a party there that we oughtta go to
Do you still love rock and roll?
Do you still love rock and roll?

It’s only a quarter to three
Reflecting off your C.D.
You’re looking at a picture of me
You’re staring at a picture of me
Take the guitar player for a ride
He ain’t never been satisfied
He thinks he owes some kind of debt
Be years before he gets over it
There’s a fortune inside your head

All you touch turns to lead
You think you might just crawl back in bed
The fortune inside your head
You know you’re just a mama’s boy
Positively unemployed
So misunderstood
So misunderstood

I know you’re gotta God shaped hole
So misunderstood [x4]

I’d like to thank you all for nothin’
I’d like to thank you all for nothin’ at all
I’d like to thank you all for nothin’
Nothin’ [x4]
Nothin’ at all
Nothin’ [x3]
Nothin’ at all

Dell + Ubuntu + DVD = :D

I didn’t see this one coming soon, but it happened, and just in time to save the world from vista. (Yeah yeah, we all know vista isn’t that bad and the developers have the fault and all that, but linux still pwns, and a dell with linux pwns even more).

Dell + Ubuntu
Dell + Ubuntu

I couldn’t resist upgrading the specs a bit, this is how much it would cost with a Intel Core 2 Duo, Ubuntu 8.04 + DVD Playback, 250GB HardDrive, 19″ monitor, 2GB DDR2 Ram. I think it’s a great price to pay for a nice desktop computer, of course… I’m thinking of programming, soft-gaming, surfing, processing and all those other kinds of activities. Maybe have a ATI Radeon and another 2GB of Ram for pro gamers 😛

I’m speculating that windows will be replaced one of these days, considering Android’s coming up for mobile devices and ubuntu is now being supported by dell with all it’s drivers and everything… I can just see HP and Toshiba going “copy-cat” on dell soon enough.

More than a good concert; Muse in Monterrey

4 or 5 curtains of smoke shot up after the 6th song, glorious riffs, jaw dropping solos, smooth heavy distorted and delirious bridges between songs weaved with the unique voice of Matthew Bellamy. That’s my description of the experience that was lived yesterday in the Arena in Monterrey, NL, Mexico.

What a night indeed, and I must add that there was quite a crowd. In a place that seats up to 17,500 people, I can surely say that about 50-70% was occupied. That’s about than 10,000 people. Great show, great event, great music, nothing more to say.

Apparently the set list was the following:

1. Dead Star
2. New Born
3. Supermassive Black Hole
4. Map of the Problematique
5. Butterflies and Hurricanes
6. Sunburn
7. Feeling Good
8. Space Dementia
9. (Bass Jam)
10. Invincible
11. Starlight
12. Hysteria
13. Time Is Running Out
14. Stockholm Syndrome

15. Take a Bow
16. Plug in Baby
17. Knights of Cydonia
